In late 1997, several families living in western Broward County covenanted to establish a Unitarian Universalist congregation in the area. We chartered as River of Grass in February 1999, and officially joined with the Unitarian Universalist Association in October 1999.

Our Mission
To provide a progressive religious home for adults and children that values spiritual curiosity and affirms each individual's search for truth and meaning, where people can worship together in an atmosphere of calm reflection and spiritual renewal. We are an offshoot of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ft. Lauderdale, a church with a long history of social and community activism. It is with their blessing and support which we have been able to build this congregation in the west.

Our Minister
By a unanimous vote, Reverend Naomi R. King was called to be our settled minister at the congregation's May 2007 Annual Meeting.  She began her ministry at River of Grass on August 1, 2007.

Government
Like all Unitarian Universalist congregations, we are governed locally by a board of trustees elected by the congregation. While our minister is a partner in the church's development, it is the members who set policy, budgets and other organizational directives.

Covenant
We are a community of people of faith, dedicated to helping each other and the world in which we live.
We are committed to promoting the values of Unitarian Universalism as embodied in our Principles and Purposes. We are united in our conviction that we need not think alike to love alike, and we welcome diversity of opinion as well as in individual life experiences.

We are a community of individuals building an extended family.
We pledge to help each other lead lives of significance and fulfillment. We will strive to create a safe and loving haven for families and instill in our children an enduring understanding of their faith. As we look outward to the larger community, we see children in crisis and offer our support and service to make their lives better.

We are a community of seekers.
We are committed to provide a sanctuary in western Broward County where people can worship in an atmosphere of religious freedom, calm reflection and spiritual renewal. We invite others searching for a spiritual home to join us in the exploration of life's great mysteries and meaning.
