Community Awareness Committee
To grow River of Grass into the large dynamic congregation that we envision, we need to get the word out to the community that we are here. Community Awareness works in a variety of ways to publicize River of Grass, such as advertising in local newspapers, arranging interviews for our minister, and coverage of special events.

Green Committee
Sustaining our environment is the personal commitment of Green Committee members. Assisted by a program developed by the Unitarian Universalists Association’s Seventh Principle Project, the committee meets to discuss topics and strategies for increasing awareness of environmental issues, changing personal lifestyles, and developing a connection between spiritual practice and environmental consciousness.

History & Archives Committee  (History@riverofgrass.org)

Membership Committee
The charge of the Membership Committee is to reach out to those in our community who are searching for a progressive religious home. We are responsible for greeting visitors at Sunday services, and following up their visit with letters or phone calls. We also sponsor events to help visitors, friends, and new members get to know River of Grass better and become involved in the life of the congregation in whichever way is most meaningful for them. We are excited and proud that River of Grass membership has grown by over 70% since we began meeting weekly in the fall of 1998. Our goal is to continue this dynamic growth, as we continue to deepen our bonds to one another.

Ministry Council
The Ministry Council listens to what is happening in the congregation, reflects on what they've heard, discerns learning opportunities and directional possibilities, and then shares learning from this process of listening, reflecting, and discerning with our Minister, our Board, Shared Ministry, and other committees in our congregation.

Religious Education Committee
The Religious Education committee supports and leads our children and adults in developing their spiritual and religious lives. This committee researches, plans and implements the Sunday School Program for children from birth through high school, and organizes several family oriented events annually. The committee is committed to offering our children a comfortable, meaningful and fun congregational life, and supporting the dedicated group of volunteer religious education teachers.

Service and Social Justice Committee
The Service and Social Justice Committee (SSJC) provides members and friends with a variety of opportunities to express their faith through service. Service may include working with established community service agencies or developing projects unique to our own congregation. Further, issues of "social justice" may be addressed through the Unitarian-Universalist Association's national agenda or our own regional association. The Committee enthusiastically welcomes all new members to participate and bring new ideas to help us create meaningful and fulfilling experiences. Committee on Shared Ministry
The committee coordinates covenant and affinity groups, and is a conduit for developing new small groups. Shared Ministry fosters healthy committees, and helps grow new leadership, through training, workshops and networking. The committee works with the minister, who is a committee member, to find ways to encourage all River of Grass members to discover their gifts -- their ministry -- and connect with opportunities that feed their soul and nourish our congregation.

Sunday worship service is one of the pillars of our congregational life. The worship Committee is responsible for the logistics of Sunday worship service as well as the programs for those services when our minister is not in the pulpit. Logistics entails setting up, taking down, ushering, collecting the offering, tracking weekly attendance, and the myriad of other associated tasks.
